Hover lawn mowers are used for mowing around
sloping areas like next to a lake etc. Hover lawn mowers have
been used by golf courses around the world for many years for
mowing the areas around water and sand.
Hover mowers get their name from actually hovering over the
ground while mowing. In theory the hover mower is supposed to
provide a more even cut next to lakes or on hills. Our reviews
show that to be a lot of b.s.
Hover mowers are not rated high by residential reviews. Most
hover mower owners can't wait to get rid of them. When reading
hove mower reviews you'll see a large proportion that have
switched to a High Wheel String
Trimmer Mower which provides the same ability as a hove
mower to mow slopping terrain with much more flexibility. Top
end trimmer lawn mowers like the DR
Trimmer Mower blow the hover mower out of the water. In our
opinion, and in the opinion if user reviews, the trimmer mower
is a much better choice.
But since we feature about every brand and type of lawn mower,
we do include reviews on the two hover mowers available from

18 Inch Hover Mower! Comes
with a Honda 4 cycle 2.9 horsepower
engine with a flexi blade and man is
it light! You may have seen hover
mowers used on golf courses as they
cut next to lakes and slope areas.
They are designed to mow
continuously on hilly areas.
Allen hover mowers have a molded
light weight ABS injected deck which
enhances life, mower handling and
grass cutting performance. The eight
bolted engine mount frame has
recessed flexible fittings and heavy
duty mounts with nylon mounts and
bushings. This makes the hover mower
not only strong but it gives you a
very smooth and nearly vibrating
free mowing job.
The handle is an extra long rear
mount with a comfortable grip that
provides for a longer reach,
stability and better control when
you have to mow in extreme slopping
or difficult mowing areas. It's
really easy to move around wherever
you have to mow.
Allen hover mower uses the Honda GCV
and GXV E-Spec 4 stroke engine which
is designed for nothing but mowing
on hilly and incline terrain. The
Honda engine also has that dual lube
dipper and cam belt oil transport
system that assures you'll get good
lubrication while the engines
running on steep hills. It also has
a high performance fuel pump that
makes sure your fuel keeps flowing
properly on those steep hills as
well. This hover mower also conforms
to CARB Tier 2 EPA requirements.
Allen hover mowers coupled with the
Honda high torque engine for extra
cutting power in dense mowing areas.
Hover mowers are easy to start
because of the automatic cylinder
decompression starting mechanism.
Hover mowers are known for great
fuel and oil economy and this Honda
4 stroke has long life expectancy. |

 The Allen
16" Hover Mower is lightweight -
(only weighs 36 pounds) even though
it has a new and improved ABS
injection molded deck that is
extremely strong and very light. The
engine has recessed engine mounts
and nylon bushing gaskets to help
eliminate vibration.
The reviews on this hover mower are
not good. Several of the most common
complaints were (1)there are no
service locations in the USA. Parts
need to be ordered from England. (2)
The mower gets clogged up in high
grass - which is kind of weird since
it's supposed to clear up deep grass
next to a water area.
Hover mowers are not popular in the
USA but are very popular in England.
If you're in the USA we recommend
sticking with the DR Trimmer or
other trimmer products for areas
around lakes, ponds, etc. |
